Shri Shubra Kamal Mukhopadhyay, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University & Former Chief Justice of Karnatak High Court inaugurated the said Seminar on 30th January 2024 .*
School of Vedic Studies, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in collaboration with Renaissance Universal (RU) and Renaissance Artists and Writers Association (RAWA), the Intellectual and Cultural wings of Ananda Marga Pracharaka Samgha organized a two-day International Seminar on ‘The Vedic Tradition and Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji: In Modern Perspectives’ on 30th and 31st of January, 2024 in the seminar hall of School of Vedic Studies, Rabindra Bharati University. The inaugural programme of the seminar started with Vedic Mangalacarana and Prabhat Samgiita. After that all the respected dignitaries lighted the lamp and offered flower to the portrays of Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji and kabiguru Rabindrath Tagore. The international seminar was inaugurated by Shri Subhra Kamal Mukhopadhyay, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Rabindra Bharati University, who was the Chief Guest of the Inaugural Session. He in his lecture emphasized the importance of being a good person over and above being the extraordinary one. He also claimed that there is need to study different philosophies and religions of our history to have a holistic understanding of human historicity and development. Prof. Bhaskarnath Bhattacharya, Director, School of Vedic Studies, Rabindra Bharati University and Convener of the Seminar delivered welcome address. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Biswajit Bhowmik, Senior Regional Director, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Agartala, Tripura. He in his keynote address emphasized the multifarious contributions made by P.R Sarkar/Shrii Shrii Anandamurti for the individual as well as collective development of the society for today as well as for future. Prof. Kapil Kapoor, the Guest of Honour in the inaugural session in his speech located Shrii Shrii Anadamurti amidst the contemporary thinkers like Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo of contemporary Indian philosophy. He also highlighted that, if we study the essence of P.R. Sarkar’s philosophy then we will have to locate him midst the classical philosophies of Advaita and other schools of classical Indian philosophical tradition. ‘Inaugural Session’ was presided over by Prof. Aditya Kumar Mohanty, Visiting Professor, Dept. of Philosophy, Tripura Central University who emphasized the ecological reference of P.R Sarkar’s neo-humanistic philosophy. He holds that, human intelligence needs to be channelized in a disciplined and holistic approach for the betterment of humanity and better future.
After the inauguration session the first day of the seminar there were two academic sessions on two themes entitled (i)The Vedas ; Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji and (ii) Grammatical Tradition and Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji. In the first academic session Prof. Rajkumar Modak, Dept. of Philosophy, Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, Purulia, Prof. Amal Kumar Mandal, Dept. of Sanskrit, Rabindra Bharati University, Prof. Ayan Bhattacharjee, Baraasat State University, West Bengal and Prof. Anil Pratap Giri, Dept. of Sanskrit, University of Allahabad were the speakers and all the speakers delivered their presentations on various aspects on the theme ‘The Vedas and Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji’. The session was Chaired by Prof. Satyajit Layek, Dept. of Sanskrit, Calcutta University.
The second academic session of the first day, post lunch has four deliberations by Dr. Sudip Chakraborty, Dept. of Sanskrit, Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, Purulia, Dr. Subrata Mandal, Dept. of Sanskrit, Rabindra Bharati University, Dr. Ranu Ghosh, Research Assistant, School of Vedic Studies, Rabindra Bharati University and Dr. Ishita Chakrabarty, Research Assistant, School of Vedic Studies, RBU Rabindra Bharati University who spoke on various aspects on the theme ‘Grammatical Tradition and Shrii Shrii Anandamurtiji’. The session was chaired by Prof. Tapan Shankar Bhattacharya, Head, Dept. of Sanskrit, Jadavpur University.
